Tulloch's nickname Bitsie is not a contraction of her actual name Elizabeth and is actually an honor to her father who was a bizarrely named World War II Bomber Pilot and was in 1961's Goldsboro B52's crash. The acting career of Tulloch began when being recognized under the nickname Bitsie. It continued to be so until 2017 when Tulloch decided to use Elizabeth. Just like I've always done since I was a child, I still use Bitsie when speaking to someone. At the age of my mid-20s I just began acting and it was working. The method worked well while I was in my early 20s. However, now as I'm in my mid 30s, I think I would like to do it again for billing. When I was filming, it hadn't crossed my mind. We noticed that it was Elizabeth while filling the legal forms. Are you sure that's how you want billing? And I just thought about it, and then I phoned my agent and manager. They said Yes, that's a bad suggestion. You are older now. Bitsie has a really adorable name. It's adorable. All it really was? There is no way to introduce myself as Elizabeth today. It's just for keeping track of the billing. Tulloch is of Scottish as well as Spanish origins. Tulloch declared that her primary spoken language is Spanish however she doesn't consider herself proficient in Spanish. The grandparents of Tulloch's paternal father are from Renfrewshire located in Scotland and her grandparents were from an area near Kirkwall. In an article published by BBC News, she stated that she believes the Tullochs first arrived in the US in 1880. The Kerrs were among them at the beginning of the century. She attended middle school as well as high school in Bedford, New York following her return to the U.S. Tulloch is an Harvard University graduate with two specializations: English and American Literature and Environmental and Visual Studies.
